What are the best play-to-earn games to keep your eyes on in 2021? Some games will release a major update, while other games will have their first presale. As a play-to-earn gamer you always look for that next big hit, but we also shouldn’t forget that we’re still very early. With this article City Telegraph presents 10 play-to-earn games to watch this 2021.
Please note. This list is not about game launches, but about what’s trending or still in development. The reasons for mentioning these games in this article will be diverse, ranging from good earning opportunities to interesting investments, all the way to simply ‘this game looks dope as f***’. In addition we want to highlight a diverse range of games, so that we won’t mention Axie Infinity, Alien Worlds and Sorare every month. Nonetheless, what the reason may be, we will explain why these play-to-earn games are part of our 2021 selection. Vamos!
Mega World
Mega World opens its demo doors
Starting from today players can get a first glimpse of Mega World, a 3D virtual world where player characters can walk around, own a house, host parties, and so on. Mega World is the evolution of MegaCryptoPolis and will combine the social elements described above with the business mogul gameplay of MCP.
Arc8
Earn GMEE by playing mini-games
We’ve all played simple smartphone games like match-3 and some of those runner games. Now you can play similar games in the Arc8 app, and earn GMEE tokens in the process. In addition Gamee sold out their first NFT collection in only 4 minutes, with more collections to follow. Arc8 already attracts thousands of players, and quite frankly the mini-games are quite nice. Now you can win a few cents while taking a dump, that’s revolution!
Splinterlands
Chaos Legion presale will end
With roughly 3 more weeks on the calendar, the presale for the Splinterlands Chaos Legion expansion will come to an end. Before that happens, there will be a lot of players trying the acquire as many voucher tokens as they can. These vouchers allow them to buy packs, and without a voucher you can’t do anything. You can earn voucher tokens by staking SPS tokens in the Splinterlands SPS management dashboard.
Guild of Guardians
GOG token sale coming up
One of the most anticipated games in the ecosystem is Guild of Guardians, a mobile action RPG. They will have a pet NFT sale pretty soon, so keep your eyes open on their socials. However, perhaps even more interesting is the GOG token sale taking place on November 10th. This in-game currency and utility token is required across the wider Guardians ecosystem.
Hexarchia
Turn-based strategy with historic warlords
Everybody who spent 1 MATIC to become a premium member, will now have access to the closed beta of the strategy game Hexarchia. This closed beta comes with a tournament where you can win NFT prizes, including Warlords. Warlords are important for the play-to-earn gameplay mechanics of Hexarchia. Much like a king in chess, if your Warlord falls during a gameplay battle in Hexarchia, the game is over. However, unlike chess kings, Warlord wield considerable power as they unlock play-to-earn options in the full game.
Coin Pirates
Pirates enter the Wax blockchain with beta
Coin Pirates will have its play-to-earn beta release this November. The game will have players seeking booty, finding treasure and stealing from each other. The game reminds us a bit of Sid Meier’s Pirates!, but than enhanced with a play-to-earn economy thanks to the CPR token. In order to set sail in beta. A savvy pirate needs to buy a pack of either Captain, Officer, or Soldier, in descending rarity. Each pack includes a ship, crew member(s), and a shovel to dig up your treasure.
The Sandbox
The Sandbox will open up gameplay this month
It really looks like the moment is finally here, as The Sandbox will open up its play-to-earn economy this month to a wider audience. You can already test the creations through the downloadable app, but now they will add SAND rewards and other mechanics. In addition the team announced a $93 million investment, suggesting that they are ready to take on any social media platform wanting to enter the metaverse.
Mines of Dalarnia
DAR token launch on Binance
Mines of Dalarnia has already attracted tens of thousands of players, but they haven’t even really started yet. Their native DAR token can be farmed by staking BNB or BUSD in the Binance Launchpad. Tip! Mines of Dalarnia is a mining adventure game, as players race against time to mine exotic materials in hostile environments. They then use those materials to upgrade their equipment and abilities.
Neon District
Long-awaited and never forgotten
We can see Neon District as an oldschool blockchain gaming project, revived on the Polygon sidechain. It’s very likely that Blockade Games will give Trophy and Key holders early access to the V2 of Neon District in November, as the public version will also release this year. The End of Days expansion will add more items, more content, and the team is working on additional modes and of course campaigns. Neon District already has play-to-earn mechanics, but Blockade Games will add a lot more to it.
NiftyVille
Grand Theft Auto, the NFT experience
Onessus promised to very soon launch a first version of NiftyVille, but they didn’t announce a date yet. However, they do have the exotic car sale coming up and the VIP passes for that are also on the market. So why did we add NiftyVille to this list? Because we have serious hopes to see something from this game in the coming weeks. Teasers on social media suggest that development has already progressed quite a lot. The roadmap promises a pre-alpha release in Q4 2021. With Christmas coming up, it makes more sense to do this pre-alpha release a few weeks before Christmas… so by the end of November. Fingers crossed!
