Russia stepped up its claim that Kyiv was preparing to attack Transnistria

Less than 24 hours after claims Ukraine was preparing a false flag attack in Transnistria, Russia’s Defense Ministry said late Thursday it had seen a “significant accumulation” of Ukrainian troops and military vehicles near the “Ukrainian-Transnistrian border.” “

The operation, which Moscow blamed on Ukrainian planning, “posed an immediate threat to Russian peacekeepers” in Transnistria, Russian news agencies said, promising that the Russian military would respond “appropriately.”

In response to earlier Russian claims that Ukraine was planning to invade Transnistria and blaming Russia, Moldovan authorities issued a statement saying they “did not confirm” the Russian report and urged citizens to “obtain information from official or verified sources.”
