Alienware Expands Its Line of PC Peripherals with New Products
Alienware, a premium PC gaming brand known for its powerful gaming PCs and sleek space-age designs, has recently introduced a new suite of PC peripherals to cater to a wider range of needs and budgets.
The brand already has a strong reputation for its gaming monitors, which are highly regarded by gamers, and its collection of gaming headsets, gaming keyboards, and gaming mice. Now, the brand is expanding its line of peripherals with the addition of two new hi-res gaming headsets, a wireless mouse, and its first-ever wireless gaming keyboard. With the exception of three products – the Alienware AW720H headset, AW620M gaming mouse, and AW920K keyboard – all new releases are wireless, offering high-performance gaming without the inconvenience of being tethered to your PC.
The new AW520H headset, which has dual USB + 3.5mm connectivity, provides the same 20Hz to 40,000Hz hi-res audio as the AW720H headset. Meanwhile, Alienware has also launched the “world’s first 500Hz IPS gaming monitor,” the 24.5-inch 1080p Alienware 500Hz AW2524H. This gaming monitor offers a 500Hz refresh rate, 0.5ms GtG response time, and Nvidia’s Reflex Latency Analyzer, which helps gamers optimize their systems to minimize latency. It also boasts sRGB 99% color coverage, AlienFX RGB lighting, and an integrated headset hanger for convenient storage of the AW720H or AW520H headset.
With these new products, Alienware is expanding its line of PC peripherals to offer a wider range of options for gamers with varying needs and budgets.
Release Dates for Alienware’s New Peripherals
Alienware’s latest suite of PC peripherals is launching today, but the release dates for each product will be staggered. The AW620M gaming mouse and the AW720H wireless gaming headset are available for purchase today at $99.99 and $159.99, respectively. However, the AW2524H gaming monitor will not be available until March 21, with a price tag of $829.99.
As for the AW520H wired gaming headset and AW920K wireless gaming keyboard, which are priced at $99.99 and $289.99, respectively, their release dates are scheduled for Q2 of this year. Unfortunately, Alienware has not yet provided a definite release date for these products. We will keep you updated on UK and Australian pricing and availability as soon as we obtain more information.
Is a 500Hz Refresh Rate Worth It for Gaming?
We have had the chance to fully test the Alienware AW720H headset, but we have yet to try out the rest of the new peripherals from Alienware. The AW720H provides an immersive audio experience with a wide soundstage and impressive hi-res audio quality. In addition, it is comfortable to wear for extended periods and has a long battery life of up to 30 hours.
Given the quality of the AW720H, we are excited to see what the rest of the peripherals lineup has to offer, especially the gaming monitor with its 500Hz refresh rate. Generally, higher refresh rates can be more demanding on your system, but Alienware has limited the resolution to 1080p, which may make a difference. However, the question remains whether such a high refresh rate is necessary for most gamers, especially since it sacrifices resolution.
Many gamers already question the necessity of 360Hz refresh rates, which require more power from the CPU and GPU. Moreover, some gamers prefer the added detail and sharpness of 1440p and 4K monitors, particularly for visually-stunning open-world games.
Asus attempted to release a similar 24-inch 1080p 500Hz gaming monitor in 2022, but it has yet to hit the market. This raises the question of whether there is a demand for such a fast display. Nonetheless, Alienware is pushing forward with its own 500Hz monitor, and it will be interesting to see how it performs in real-world use.
