WhatsApp will restrict users from selecting all options in polls

WhatsApp is working on a workaround for the biggest problem with the polling feature. This will eventually limit the user to only selecting one option in the poll. Now you can select some or all of the available options. The change should come with an update for the Meta messaging app itself in the coming weeks. However, the existing ability to select multiple options will not be lost. The survey creator can choose to limit respondents to only one option or all options.

Polls in WhatsApp will get better soon

WhatsApp added a poll feature to its messaging app last year. After several months of beta testing, the part rolled out to everyone in November. Although it is instrumental in groups, this allows you to poll both one-on-one and in groups. Not everyone can use the feature, but many find it useful in various situations. Brands can even research using polls, with the app allowing up to 12 choices.

However, the WhatsApp poll has a caveat – users can select any option. Maybe the company ignored it or didn’t bother baking the feature fully before releasing it to the public. In many cases, this defeats the purpose. Instead of selecting the correct option, the respondent selects all. Unsurprisingly, WhatsApp has been inundated with requests to limit polling to just one option. The company finally listened.

The folks at WABetaInfo noticed that the latest beta version of the app added a toggle to limit polls to only one vote. The toggle appears under the answer options when creating a poll. If this option is enabled, the respondent can only choose one correct option. If you want to leave multiple votes open, you can simply turn off the toggle before publishing the poll. This is a simple yet effective feature that makes WhatsApp polls much better.

An upcoming update for WhatsApp will bring this change

The ability to restrict WhatsApp polls to only one correct option is currently under development. This feature is available for Android beta users with app version 2.23.6.16. A public launch will follow in the coming weeks once the company ensures the new Switch is stable and ready for prime time. Be careful with updates for WhatsApp on your Android device.
