Everything that starts has to end and now it’s How to Get Away with Murder’s turn. ABC has just announced that the sixth season of the series starring Viola Davis will be the last taking advantage of the launch of the trailer for these new episodes.
Released in 2014, How to Get Away with Murder told the story of a group of law students and their charismatic Criminal Defense professor. This last installment will focus on the last semester of the class and we will see how the relationship with his teacher becomes more complicated than ever.
A series that made history
How to Get Away with Murder made history in 2015, as Viola Davis became the first woman to win an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in the drama series category. She was nominated again on two occasions, but leaving home empty.
ABC thus loses one of the three series endorsed by Shonda Rhimes, who decided to sign on Netflix . Currently only the long-lived ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and its spin-off ‘Station 19′ will remain on its grid .
Peter Nowalk, creator of the series, has stressed that it has been a tough decision, but that it is history that dictates these things. In addition, he pointed out that it is a “rare gift” to have the opportunity to calmly develop the ending of How to Get Away with Murder so that all the characters have endings to match.
The sixth and final season opens in the United States on September 26.

Showrunner Peter Nowalk is normally fairly tight lipped about the direction and story of the show but he’s offered some tantalizing tips about season 4. Season 4 will find the law students of Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) halfway through their time in law school and in a relatively stable place. Then of course everything will suddenly be not ok. Each season of the show begins with a central mystery and Nowalk offered an interesting clue about this season’s mystery to The Hollywood Reporter.
Additionally, we also know that the first episode will be titled “I’m Going Away.”

A popular crime drama is entering its middle years. You know what that means: it’s Smits time! Uber TV veteran and all-around exciting actor Jimmy Smits will be joining the cast of How to Get Away with Murder Season 4 in an undisclosed role.
