Wonder Woman 1984: RELEASE DATE, CAST, TRAILER, PLOT AND ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

Wonder Woman is getting closer and closer to returning to the movies and Patty Jenkins celebrates it by revealing small details that leave us more and more excited to see Gal Gadot again as Diana Prince, this time in the 80s.

Wonder Woman 1984 is one of the most anticipated sequels of the year and we already know some details about the story and the new characters.

Patty Jenkins, the director of the film, is saving the most important details for when the film opens in theaters, but she already said that this story takes a significant jump in time, to the 80s, we thought that meant that Chris Pine He would not be the Steve Trevor we met in the first movie (because he died and would also be an old man) but it seems they found a way to bring him back to help Diana Prince face a new generation of villains.

Months ago it was confirmed that comedian Kristen Wiig would join the cast as Barbara Minerva, better known as Cheetah, one of the most famous villains in the Wonder Woman comics, Pedro Pascal would also take on the role of another famous villain from the comics and Chris Pine, who appeared in the first film, would return Steve Trevor, who does not recognize the world he is in now.

Now, a new image shows a first confrontation between Wonder Woman and her new enemy. Diana appears wearing her golden armor and tie to fight Cheetah, who appears wearing an animal print look as a reference to her identity as a villain. The fight seems to be happening inside the White House.

It is known that the story takes place in the 80s and that, because of the timeline, it is not connected to the rest of the DC movies (do not expect to see Batman or Superman), but, beyond that, I do not know they know many details.

The first trailer was officially revealed during Sao Paulo Comic Con and it’s everything we were promised and more. This time around, Patty Jenkins plays nostalgia with a story set in the ’80s, giving the story a retro twist that celebrates the legacy and trajectory that Wonder Woman has had in the comics and on television.

More punches, more kicks, more female empowerment, and more action, here are some things fans can expect from Wonder Woman 1984 and the trailer is the ultimate proof that DC is raising its game to try and beat Marvel.

Diana Prince has a new outfit and she’s ready to kick some butt one more time.

In addition, in the middle of the coronavirus epidemic, the studio has just shared a hypnotizing new poster that shows Wonder Woman as we have never seen her before.

What you didn’t see from the first trailer:

The invisible jet

In both the comics and the TV series, Wonder Woman uses an invisible jet to travel undetected, it looks like she and Steve are going to use it in the sequel.

New “old” look

The golden suit had not appeared in the series or in the previous film, but it is a reference to the 1996 Kingdom Come comic in which Diana wears a golden suit that was created for her in Themyscira, this helps her resist bullets, explosions and fly.

Steve Trevor

It was thought that the Steve Trevor of the sequel was not the same as the previous one, but, there are details in the trailer that hint that it is the old Steve is back in some way. This could be the work of Maxwell Lord, the new villain.

The power of lightning

At one point, you can see how Wonder Woman seems to take lightning and use it to fly, this is a reference to the comics as she is the daughter of Zeus.

Friends / enemies

Not much is known about the story yet, but you can see that before she became the villain of the story, Kristen Wigg is actually friends with Diana Prince.

Trevor’s Ranch

In one scene it is also seen that Diana visits a place called Trevor’s Ranch, this is supposedly in honor of Steve Trevor and one of the proofs that the new Steve we see here could be a trick from Lord, who promises to give her everything what you want.

New career

In the first film, Diana Prince becomes curator of the Louvre museum, it seems that now she has a new position in a museum, she appears showing Steve some pieces. In the series, Diana works at the CIA, so this is a big change.

Here are some things to know:

The Release Date

The film would hit theaters in June 2020, but due to the coronavirus and quarantine, the decision was made to delay its release until the end of this year. The new date is for December 25, 2020.

“When we gave the green light to Wonder Woman 1984, it was with every intention of being seen on the big screen and we are excited to announce that Warner Bros. Pictures will release the film in theaters on August 14, “Toby Emmerich, Warner Bros. Pictures. president, said in a statement to Variety. “We hope the world is in a safer and healthier place by then.”

Steve Trevor

Chris Pine plays Steve Trevor’s character in the first movie, and if you remember correctly, he died in order to win the battle, but here he is back, following the same story from the original series in which Diana Prince meets the nephew of Steve years after fighting alongside him in WWII. Here, instead of being Steve’s nephew, she appears to be the same and has not aged.

Villains

Pedro Pascal as Maxwell Lord

Patty Jenkins shared on Twitter an image of a vintage television in which Pascal could be seen dressed in a suit, with a Donald Trump hairstyle, and sitting in the back seat of a car, making a face of “don’t trust me”. Jenkins did not share any more information, but fans of the film have been searching for information and are sure that the actor could play Maxwell Lord, a character who made his debut in the 1987 Justice League comics.

According to the comics, Lord is a very suspicious and Machiavellian businessman who convinces the heroes of the Justice League to join a new team of superheroes with whom he wanted to save the world, but his motives were not good, he had an agenda secret and very bad intentions.

Years later, the heroes discover that Lord is crazy and that what he really wants is to dominate the world and “save” it from the dominance of superheroes. In the story, Wonder Woman is forced to kill Lord, which causes a conflict between her, Batman, and Superman, and ends up destroying the Justice League.

Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva

It was confirmed months ago that comedian Kristen Wiig would join the cast as Barbara Minerva , better known as Cheetah, one of the most famous villains in the Wonder Woman comics.

Cheetah is one of Diana’s most famous adversaries, she wears a feline outfit, typically with cheetah spots, tail and claws, and has agility and strength. Several characters have assumed the Cheetah name, Priscilla Rich was the original Cheetah in the 1940s and was a debutante with a split personality who felt overshadowed by Diana, her other side was that of Cheetah, a hunter who executed great thefts. Later, Priscilla’s niece turns into Cheetah in later issues.

Barbara Minerva appears until the 80s and is a British archaeologist who invokes a feline god who transforms her into a super human. Minerva is obsessed with the bond and Wonder Woman mythology.

During the Brazilian Comic Con Experience, a first glimpse of the villain was presented thanks to the merch that was available on the film, there you can see Cheetah with an animal print suit, very different from the traditional look she uses in the comics . Now, the latest trailer for the movie revealed Wigg completely transformed into Cheetah and using her powers to fight Wonder Woman.

The Synopsis

Fast forward to the 1980s when Wonder Woman’s next big-screen adventure finds her facing an entirely new foe: The Cheetah . As previously announced, the film also stars Kristen Wiig in the role of Supervillain The Cheetah, as well as Pedro Pascal. Chris Pine also returns as Steve Trevor. “
