Tekashi 6ix9ine Hospitalized After Attack at Florida Gym

Tekashi 6ix9ine was hospitalized after being attacked by a group of assailants in a South Florida gym bathroom on Tuesday, Variety confirmed.

According to his lawyer Lance Lazaro, the 26-year-old rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, suffered facial cuts and bruises.

Lazaro said the rapper was assaulted in and out of the LA Fitness sauna by three or four men who beat him despite his efforts to fight back. “He had cuts on his face and bruises,” said Lazaro. Lawyers said the assailants fled after officers heard the disturbance.

According to Lazaro, the South Florida State Police were called, and Hernandez was taken to a local hospital by ambulance. It is currently unclear whether the rapper remains in the hospital.

Lazaro told TMZ he wanted to ensure Hernandez had protection since his release from federal prison in April 2020. Hernandez was arrested and sentenced to two years in prison in 2019 on nine counts, including racketeering, drug trafficking, and firearms offenses, for his involvement in the Nine Trey Bloods gang. Hernandez received a reduced sentence after colluding with federal officials to jail his associates. He was released early amid concerns about COVID-19 after a judge labeled the rapper a “model prisoner.”

In a video leaked to Twitter, one of Hernandez’s attackers can be heard saying, “Take a picture. Now I’m going to be famous.” Another video shows a bloodied Hernandez walking out of the gym.
