Netflix is now also increasing its prices for those who already have a streaming subscription. You can find out what the service will cost from now on and which subscription model will not change here.
As early as January 2021, Netflix adjusted the prices for new customers, now existing customers also have to dig deeper into their pockets for the content of the streaming service. The prices for the standard and premium subscription will be increased by one or two euros per month – if you want to change your subscription model now, you can see the new prices in the member area. For video content in standard quality, 12.99 instead of 11.99 euros will be charged in future. For Premium you pay 17.99 euros instead of 15.99 euros. Customers will also be informed about the price increase if they have chosen one of the two tariffs. This gives them the opportunity to decide whether they are ready to accept the price increase before the next charge.
Netflix does not change the basic tariff
It is noticeable: Netflix is still leaving it at the old price of 7.99 euros for subscribers to the basic tariff with streaming in SD quality. The subscription model is interesting for many who watch Netflix on a laptop, can accept lower video quality and do not need parallel streams. However, many users prefer Full HD or 4K and therefore have to choose one of the more expensive tariffs.
Netflix seems to adjust its prices every two years. In the meantime, the subscription costs have already been increased four times – in 2015, 2017, 2019 and now also in 2021. According to this scheme, existing customers can assume that there will be another price increase in 2023.
Comparatively high price for 4K
In contrast to other providers, the price for 4K quality and parallel streaming on multiple devices is significantly higher. For comparison: There is only one subscription model for Disney +, and it costs 8.99 euros. However, this company too recently implemented a price increase of two euros per month with the introduction of the new Star theme.
