The main agenda of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting to be held in Bengaluru, southern India, was finalized on the 20th. We will discuss the slowdown in the global economy and the debt problems of emerging countries. The focus will be on whether a joint statement with effective measures can be adopted. Russia, which is invading Ukraine, is a member country, and Japan, the United States, and Europe plan to condemn Russia again. It is likely that it will be difficult for the G20 to gather opinions. Substantive discussions will be held on June 24 and 25.
The G20 Summit held last November adopted a Leaders’ Declaration calling for the promotion of food and energy security and increased trade and investment for global economic growth. The question will be whether this Finance Ministers’ Meeting will be able to come up with concrete measures for further growth.
