“I guarantee.” Trump said that he will resolve the conflict in Ukraine when he becomes president

“Donald Trump said that he would agree with Putin and Zelensky on a meeting to resolve the conflict as soon as “it becomes known about his victory” in the presidential elections. He also expressed confidence that he could resolve the conflict “in 24 hours” and criticized the support of Ukraine from the United States. Over the past year, Trump has repeatedly made statements on the situation in Ukraine, including a “secret plan” to resolve the crisis.”

In case of victory in the US presidential election in 2024, Republican Donald Trump promised to call Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky to resolve the military conflict in Ukraine. Speaking to supporters in Florida on Feb. 20, he said he would make a deal with all parties “on the same day.” His speech was broadcast by RSBN, which has been broadcasting Trump’s speeches since 2015.

“The same night I find out about my victory, I will call two people – Zelensky and Putin – and tell them: ‘We need to meet.’ I guarantee that I will be able to settle everything, Trump said.”

The next US presidential election is scheduled for 2024. Traditionally, the vote takes place in November, and the inauguration of the head of state – in January next year.

Trump also expressed the opinion that the continuation of financial support for Ukraine postpones the moment of the end of hostilities.

“It delays a lot of things, but it also leads to more and more people being killed every day… I could resolve it in one day, “the former US president claimed.

He stressed that the conflict “must be resolved immediately” and assured that he would conclude a peace agreement “within 24 hours.” Trump called every day of military action “a gift to Putin” as the situation for Ukraine “is getting worse.”

“Putin would never go to Ukraine”

Trump reiterated the view that Russia would not have launched a military operation if he had remained the American president. “In fact, I had a very good relationship” with Putin, the former US president said.

“Putin would never, ever go to Ukraine. I’ve seen [Russian] troops gathering on the border and I said, ‘He’s negotiating, it’s just negotiations,'” Trump told supporters. “And then [U.S. President] Joe Biden intervened, saying that if Russia takes a small part of the territory [of Ukraine], then maybe everything is fine. It’s not something worth saying.”

Trump is probably referring to the scandal that began after Biden’s words said at a press conference on January 19, 2022.

“It’s one thing if it’s a minor invasion and eventually we’ll have to argue about what to do and what not to do. However, if they really do what they are able to do with the forces assembled at the border [of Ukraine], if Russia continues to invade Ukraine, it will be a disaster for Russia, and our allies and partners will be ready to inflict significant damage on its economy, “Biden said at the time.

In response to this, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that there are no “minor invasions”. The White House later issued a clarification, saying that “aggression, excluding military action,” such as cyberattacks and paramilitary strikes, “will be met with a decisive, reciprocal, and unified response.”

Trump’s speech to supporters took place on the same day that President Biden visited Ukraine. The US president arrived in Kiev early in the morning to meet with Volodymyr Zelensky a few days before the anniversary of the outbreak of hostilities.

Trump’s Campaign Promises

The U.S. presidential election will be held in November 2024. Trump on November 15, 2022 announced that he would again put forward his candidacy in the elections of the head of state.

The ex-president has repeatedly spoken out about military actions in Ukraine, criticizing the actions of the current head of state Joe Biden, and made contradictory statements.

In particular, in March 2022, Trump said that the Ukrainian army was successfully fighting “thanks to the weapons” that he gave and “which the Ukrainians used so well,” and later opposed sending tanks to Kiev.

The former US president has also repeatedly called for a resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. In September 2022, he offered to mediate at a meeting of the Russian and Ukrainian sides, and in October he said that if Moscow and Kiev do not immediately begin peace negotiations, the world could come to a third world war.

In recent weeks, Trump has repeatedly claimed that he knows how to conclude a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine “within 24 hours.” He also said it would be “easy” to end the crisis, but did not offer a concrete plan.

Speaking to the conservative Right Side Broadcasting Network in early February, he said he had a “secret plan” that he did not want to share.

“This can be agreed, I think, within 24 hours. It really has to be done from the [US] office of the president. You have to gather them both (the presidents of Russia and Ukraine. – “Gazeta. Ru”) in the room, and there are things you can say to each of them that I won’t reveal now. This ensures that this war ends immediately,” Trump argued.

The Russian authorities have also previously stated the possibility of quickly ending the conflict with the participation of the United States. “A corresponding instruction to the Kiev regime from Washington is enough – and all this can be completed. Certainly not in a day or two. But the key to the Kiev regime is largely in the hands of Washington, “said Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation.

On February 18, The Hill, citing a Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll, reported that Trump would be ahead of Joe Biden in the presidential elections if they were held in the near future, and not in 2024. According to the survey, 46% of respondents would vote for Trump, 41% would vote for Biden.
