The plan for a peaceful settlement in Ukraine proposed by China is beneficial only to Russia. This opinion was expressed by US President Joe Biden.
“[Russian President Vladimir] Putin applauds him; how can he be any good?” Biden said.
The US President also called “irrational” the idea that China is trying to participate in negotiations on the outcome of a “totally unjust war” for Ukraine.
China presented a plan “for a political solution to the Ukrainian crisis” on the anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The program has 12 points, including a ceasefire, respect for the sovereignty of all countries and an end to unilateral sanctions.
The Russian Foreign Ministry, commenting on the plan, said that Moscow appreciates “the sincere desire of Chinese friends to contribute to the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine by peaceful means.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the proposals were not a plan but just a set of thoughts but appreciated that China had started talking about Ukraine.
