The Los Angeles Dodgers are excited to have Shohei Ohtani join their team in Hollywood. He’s a huge baseball star who can both hit and pitch. Shohei Ohtani, a 29-year-old player from Japan, left the Los Angeles Angels and signed a big contract with the Dodgersโ$700 million for 10 years!
Ohtani is known for being excellent at both hitting and pitching, but he had surgery for a pitching injury on September 19 and won’t be able to pitch again until 2025. This will be his first time talking to the media since August 9.
Ohtani has a batting average of .274 in his career, with 171 home runs, 437 RBIs, and 86 stolen bases. He has a 39-19 record with a 3.01 ERA and 608 strikeouts as a pitcher. People admire him for not being scared of tough situations in baseball, especially during the playoffs.
Ohtani has signed a unique contract with the Dodgers. He’ll get $70 million yearly, but $68 million will be paid later with no interest. He can also leave the team if the team’s owner or the person in charge of baseball operations changes.
The Dodgers are looking forward to winning the World Series, and they believe having fearless players like Ohtani will help them achieve that goal. One of the Dodgers’ players, Joe Kelly, even gave up his uniform number (No. 17) for Ohtani. That’s a big sign of respect and teamwork!
