Selena Gomez dethroned Kylie Jenner on Instagram, then announced a new hiatus on social media

Kylie Jenner was the most followed woman on Instagram until Selena Gomez returned to the social media platform and quickly reclaimed the title.

Gomez was previously the most followed woman on Instagram but left the social media platform for a while, only to come back stronger than ever. The two women had nearly 400 million followers as of Thursday.

Recently, Gomez posted a photo of herself sipping a drink and captioned it, “I deleted this once thinking it might be too much, but haha.”

The singer told Vanity Fair that she deleted Instagram from her phone and allowed her team to post because she thought it was toxic.

“People can call me ugly or stupid, and I’ll say whatever. But these people get the details,” she told the publication. “You wrote a particular and vicious paragraph. I will cry all the time. I’m always afraid. I can’t take it anymore. It’s a waste of time.

He continued, “The only thing I keep on my phone is TikTok because I don’t think it’s too hostile. Social media has great things — connecting with fans, seeing how happy and excited they are, and their stories. But usually it filters [for me now]. I create a system. Everything I do, I send to my assistant, who posts it. As for the comments, my team will put together some encouraging stuff.”

That’s love for Gomez today, with lots of positive comments on her last post. One fan wrote: “Wow! Thank goodness he’s back.

Thursday night, Gomez announced that she was taking another break from social media via a TikTok Live video.
