India to Host Miss World 2023, Marking a Return after Almost 3 Decades

India Set to Host Miss World 2023, Returning After Nearly Three Decades

The highly anticipated 71st edition of Miss World is scheduled to take place in November this year, with the exact dates yet to be confirmed.

India is gearing up to host the Miss World 2023 competition, marking the prestigious international beauty pageant’s return to the country after an absence of nearly three decades. The last time India hosted the event was in 1996.

“I am thrilled to announce India as the new destination for the 71st Miss World Final… We eagerly await the opportunity to showcase your unique and diverse culture, world-class attractions, and breathtaking locations to the rest of the world. The 71st Miss World 2023 will be an exceptional showcase of the achievements of 130 national champions during their month-long journey across ‘Incredible India,’” stated Julia Morley, Chairperson and C.E.O. of the Miss World organization, during a press conference on Thursday.

The month-long extravaganza will witness participation from contestants representing over 130 countries. They will engage in rigorous competitions, including talent showcases, sports challenges, and charitable initiatives, all aimed at highlighting the qualities that make them outstanding ambassadors of change.

The reigning Miss World, Karolina Bielawska from Poland, currently in India promoting the beauty competition, expressed her excitement to pass on her crown in this “magnificent country” that upholds the same values as Miss World.

“India possesses the utmost hospitality in the world. It is my second time here… and you make me feel at home. You stand for the same values of diversity, unity… Your core values revolve around family, respect, love, and kindness, and these are the aspects we wish to showcase to the world. There is so much more to experience here, and bringing the entire world here for a month to witness all that India has to offer is an outstanding idea,” remarked Miss World 2022.

Equally thrilled and eagerly anticipating India hosting the event is the reigning Miss India World, Sini Shetty, who will represent the country in this high-profile competition.

“I am incredibly excited to meet all my sisters from across the globe and welcome them to India, to show them what India truly represents its diversity… I am genuinely thrilled and looking forward to this journey. I hope you all have the most amazing time here in India,” she expressed.

India has claimed the prestigious Miss World title six times in the past, with winners including Reita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra (2000), and Manushi Chillar (2017).
