Anjem Choudary, a notorious hate preacher, is currently undergoing questioning by the police following his arrest on suspicion of a terrorism offense. The 56-year-old Choudary’s residence in Ilford was raided by detectives at approximately 5:40 am on Monday.
In a subsequent development, counter-terrorism officers from Scotland Yard apprehended a 28-year-old Canadian national upon his arrival at Heathrow Airport, seven hours later.
Both Choudary and the Canadian national were detained on suspicion of being members of a banned organization, which contravenes the provisions of the Terrorism Act 2000.
The investigation led to their interrogation at a police station in west London, while the authorities conducted searches at three properties situated in east London.

Anjem Choudary, who was a trained lawyer, held the position of the UK’s most prominent Islamic extremist for many years. He headed various groups, including al-Muhajiroun, which were banned under the counter-terrorism legislation enacted following the 9/11 terror attacks in New York and the 7/7 suicide bombings in London in 2005. Notably, al-Muhajiroun praised the 9/11 terrorists as “magnificent martyrs.”
The Metropolitan Police issued a statement confirming the arrests, stating, “Counter-terrorism detectives have arrested two men as part of an investigation into suspected terrorism offenses.
