Unprecedented Diplomacy: Putin and Kim Jong Un’s Summit in Siberia

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un engaged in a cordial handshake and exchanged pleasantries at the Vostochny cosmodrome, situated in Siberia’s Amur region. This rendezvous marked the beginning of a significant summit meeting, anticipated to encompass discussions on an arms and military technology agreement.

Russian President Vladimir Putin extended a warm welcome to North Korea’s supreme leader Kim Jong Un as they met at the Vostochny cosmodrome spaceport. This summit marked their second encounter since 2019 and was poised to delve into the intricacies of an arms and military technology pact.

Kim Jong Un arrived at the cosmodrome in a sleek black limousine, making his way to the rocket installation and test facility. The two leaders greeted each other with smiles, sharing a brief exchange of words that underscored the diplomatic significance of the moment.

Subsequently, a video capturing this momentous handshake between the two leaders was posted on the official telegram channel of the Kremlin.

Prior to this diplomatic meeting, South Korea and Japan had jointly reported the detection of two short-range ballistic missiles launched from North Korea’s eastern coast, adding an element of tension to the geopolitical backdrop.
