Apple is heavily asked to pay. The company has to pay a hefty fine for the lack of chargers on the iPhone 12. According to the authorities, the iPhone company would have misled customers.
Because Apple shipped the iPhone 12 without a charger, the company has to pay a heavy fine. As reported by 9to5mac , Brazilian consumer protection authorities have fined the company. This is about 10.5 million Brazilian reals. That is the equivalent of a two million dollar fine that Apple now has to pay because of the iPhone.
The authority had made an official request to Apple in October 2020. They wanted to know if the price of the iPhone 12 was cut after the company dropped the chargers. The authorities wanted to know the exact prices of the iPhone 12 with and without accessories. In addition, the question was raised whether the company had even cut back on the production of iPhone chargers.
iPhone 12 leads to the penalty for Apple
According to the authorities, Apple has not commented on any of the points mentioned. That and complaints from customers now lead to the penalty. Brazilian Apple users had reported that the company refused to repair the smartphone after it was damaged by water. The iPhone 12 should survive up to 30 minutes in a water depth of six meters without damage.
There were also complaints that software problems went unanswered by support. Apple still has the option to take the sentence to court. It is not known whether the company will take this step.
