Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on Defender of the Fatherland Day.
“Sergei Kuzhugetovich, Happy Holidays!” – said the Russian leader before the ceremony of laying flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Thursday, February 23.
Earlier in the day, Putin laid a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Kremlin Wall in memory of the fallen soldiers. Every year on February 23, heads of state come to this ceremony in Alexander Park.
Addressing the war veterans who attended the ceremony, the Russian leader also noted that the future and truth are on Russia’s side. In addition, Putin stressed that the state’s sacred duty is to look after those who defend the country.
Every year on February 23, Russia celebrates an important holiday – Defender of the Fatherland Day. In Moscow, on February 23 at 21.00, fireworks will be lit at 14 locations. A total of 30 volleys were planned.
