Watch: Police hold hostages during protests in Colombia

Dozens of police and oil company workers were taken hostage Thursday after violent protests in Colombia.

Violence erupted in the rural part of the municipality of San Vicente del Cagua, where the company’s Emerald Energy oil field was attacked by protesters from rural communities and indigenous people, the Colombian National Police said.

Protesters blocked access to the oilfield to help companies repair roads in the area.
