Saudi Arabia Launches New National Airline, Riyadh Air

According to a report by IANS, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) has stated that the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, has declared the establishment of a new national airline called Riyadh Air. The Public Investment Fund (PIF) of the kingdom owns the airline entirely. The SPA report on Sunday indicated that Riyadh Air is projected to contribute $20 billion to non-oil GDP growth and generate over 200,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.

According to a report by Xinhua news agency, the national carrier of Saudi Arabia, SAUDIA, uses Jeddah as its primary hub. The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) stated that the new national airline will capitalize on the strategic location of Saudi Arabia, which is situated between three continents, to establish Riyadh as a gateway to the world and a global hub for transportation, trade, and tourism. The SPA further revealed that the new airline, named Riyadh Air, will operate from Riyadh as its primary hub.
