Former US President Donald Trump is scheduled to give a deposition in a $250 million civil lawsuit brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James. The lawsuit, filed last September, accuses Trump of committing fraud in his real estate business practices over ten years. The deposition is set to take place in Manhattan, and Trump has already tweeted his criticism of the lawsuit, calling it “another unjust & ridiculous persecution.”
This is not the first time Trump has been deposed in this case. In August, he sat for a deposition at the attorney general’s office but invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination more than 400 times. The trial is set for October, but Trump recently requested an extension of the fact discovery deadline until late September, citing the amount of evidence his legal team has to review.
In addition to this lawsuit, Trump also faces 34 felony counts of falsifying business records related to hush money payments made during his 2016 presidential campaign, brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. He pleaded not guilty to those charges last week.
