OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, the parent company of ChatGPT, acknowledges the potential for AI to replace human jobs while emphasizing the creation of new opportunities. Currently in India, Altman’s visit reportedly includes a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In an interview with the Economic Times, the visionary entrepreneur behind this groundbreaking chatbot discusses the future of AI.
Sam Altman’s Perspective on AI and Job Displacement
During the discussion, Altman acknowledged that while AI will lead to the elimination of “some jobs,” it will also generate new employment opportunities. When questioned about the potential job loss caused by AI, the CEO responded by stating, โEvery tech revolution leads to job change. In two generations, we can adapt to any amount of labor market change and there are new jobs and they are usually better. That is going to happen here, too. Some jobs are going to go away. There will be new, better jobs that are difficult to imagine today.โ
In the interview, Sam Altman also addressed the topic of AI regulation. Notably, the OpenAI CEO garnered attention for discussing AI regulation in front of US lawmakers. Altman expressed OpenAI’s willingness to collaborate with the government to establish effective regulations for AI.
