The Russian offensive in the Kharkiv region has failed, with Ukrainian forces successfully halting the enemy’s advance. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed this at a press conference with RBC-Ukraine.
“In the Kharkiv region, Russian forces, whether human or otherwise, have been stopped. Their offensive has failed. All experts acknowledge that Russia’s attempt to advance on Kharkiv has been thwarted. I would say that it was our soldiers and the appropriate weaponry that achieved this. Let’s highly appreciate the service of our troops,” the president stated.

In May, Russian troops increased their activity in the northern Kharkiv region, attempting to break through the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ positions near the city of Vovchansk. Russia also intensified attacks on frontline settlements in Ukraine, leading Kyiv’s Western partners to ease restrictions on using their weapons against Russian territory.
