Save our Squad: David Beckham’s soccer series on Disney +

The series will take Beckham back to the courts where he played as a child to become a mentor to new talent.

Save our Squad is the series that you are going to want to see if you are a sports fan.

David Beckham has just followed in Prince Harry’s footsteps to the streaming world, but he chose Disney + as the home of a new series that they are already working on together.

This was a rumor that had already been talked about for months, but now it is confirmed that, as part of its efforts to create more content in Europe, the platform recruited the former Manchester United star (fashion icon and owner of the best haircuts ever ) for an unscripted series, Save Our Squad. According to The Hollywood Reporter, David Beckham’s series will be produced alongside Twenty Twenty and Beckhan’s own Studio 99. Save Our Squad will take Beckham back to the soccer fields where he played as a child, in London, but now to become the mentor of a new team looking to secure a place in the league.

What is Save our Squad about?

It basically sounds like a real life version of The Mighty Ducks , where Beckham will become something of a Gordon Bombay to work with a team of rookies who need all the help possible to reach their potential.

In the film (which now also has a new series), Bombay is sent to work with a group of children in a low-income area after making a mistake at the law firm where he works. At first, the coach believes that he has the worst players and that they will not go far, but, with his help, they begin to play better and better until they achieve what seemed impossible, they begin to win.

The Mighty Duck s is a ’90s classic that has inspired millions of people around the world, and we can’t help but notice the similarities between this story, and what Beckham seeks to do with this London team that will surely lead him to remember. his early days as an amateur gamer in London. (Also Read: The end of WandaVision could be very different, especially for Agatha Harkness)

The report says that Beckham and his team will work with the players, their coach and their community in what they describe as a “transformative and uplifting journey of a lifetime.”

“We are very excited to welcome David Beckham to Disney +, ” said Sean Doyle, Executive Producer at Disney. “This is a fantastic opportunity to show the importance and impact of grassroots football in UK communities. The series will be exciting, dramatic, uplifting and full of heart and courage – everything David had in his own days as a player! ! “

Additionally, Beckham added: “It’s great to be doing Save Our Squad with Twenty Twenty and shedding light on the kind of grassroots football that I experienced growing up and that gave me so much at the beginning of my life in the game.”

When it premieres?

For now there is no release date, the series has just been confirmed, but it is possible that they already have some filmed material and that Beckham is already working with this new team, so surely this will not arrive in 2021.

Will this be Beckham’s only project ? For now, nothing else is talked about, but now that Disney has it, it would not be strange to start seeing many more projects in which the footballer and the Mickey Mouse studio can work together, so you have to be aware.

Netflix, for its part, is preparing the series about The Invictus Games with Prince Harry , so the streaming will be filled with good content for sports fans.
