U.S. Teen Shot Dead by Israeli Forces in West Bank, Say Palestinian Officials

On Friday, Israeli troops in the West Bank shot and killed a 17-year-old Palestinian-American teenager during clashes, according to Palestinian officials as reported by Reuters. The victim’s uncle confirmed the incident, stating that the boy was shot in the head.

The U.S. State Department acknowledged the death of a U.S. citizen in the West Bank, stating to CBS News that they are working to understand the circumstances and have requested further information from the Israeli government.

The shooting took place in a small Palestinian town east of Ramallah, as reported by Wafa, the official news agency of the Palestinian National Authority. The Israeli Defense Forces did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment on the incident.

The escalation of tensions in the West Bank has been attributed to the October 7 terrorist attack by Hamas in southern Israel, leading to the Israel-Hamas war.
