Anyone who owns a Fritzbox can use numerous new features with the latest update. The company AVM has announced a number of innovations that are now to be rolled out gradually to all products.
A total of 70 new functions and improvements are waiting for Fritzbox owners. The innovations should be particularly noticeable in video conferences in the home office or when streaming. The manufacturer AVM is thus adapting its router to the growing demands, because due to the higher requirements at home, some users have reached technical limits in recent months.
Fritzbox: Update enables device prioritization in the home office
The router now enables certain computers or laptops in the home network to be given priority if the network is fully utilized. This can be particularly useful for families or shared apartments in which many people use the WLAN at the same time – this way you can be sure that important video conferences, for example, are stable. Practical: The new function is also available in the mesh overview.
The WiFi Mesh is now even more stable: The auto channel selection for the wireless connection has been further optimized so that streaming, gaming and homeschooling can also be reliably used on multiple mobile devices.
The set-up of call diversions and call blocks as well as the telephone book management have also been revised – making calls in the home office much easier. Different phone books now help with the separation of private life and job. And: The transmission quality for calls with poor cellular connections has been improved.

Further new features thanks to FRITZ! OS 7.25
AVM has also improved the parental controls for the Fritzbox. “It is now even easier for parents to stay in control of online times and accessible web content,” said the company. “This means that child safety tickets, which allow additional time windows, can now be better managed on the Fritzbox interface.”
In addition, the internal memory of the Fritzbox for pictures, ring tones or voice messages has been backed up . With the update, LTE models of the Fritzbox also get improved SMS support. This includes a new SMS journal in which received and sent SMS messages are listed.
How to get the free update as a Fritzbox user
The rollout of the new Fritz! OS 7.25 firmware has already started. Owners of a Fritzbox 7590 and Fritz Dect 440 can currently use the update. If automatic updates are activated in the router settings, this happens automatically. If this is not the case, Fritzbox users can start an update on the router’s user interface. To do this, you have to enter http://fritz.box in the address bar of your browser to open the settings.
