Long-playing: How does Dmitry Peskov manage to work as a presidential press secretary for so many years?

0

Dmitry Peskov has been a kind of alter ego of Vladimir Putin for many years, it is from the mouth of Peskov that the world learns Putin’s opinion on a very wide range of issues – from the attitude to international politics to family relations. Therefore, interest in the personality of the press secretary is inevitable. A lot of questions arise about him and about him. For example, how consistent are Peskov’s statements with Putin’s opinion? How does he manage to be his press secretary for so many years? Why did Putin choose Peskov for this role, who was neither a relative nor a childhood friend, nor a KGB officer, nor an employee of the St. Petersburg mayor’s office under Sobchak โ€“ that is, does not belong to any of the environments from which Putin formed his inner circle? We will try to find answers to these questions in Peskov’s biography, his career and the few interviews he gave.

Press Secretaries of the Presidents of the Russian Federation

In the Russian Federation, in all the years of its existence โ€“ from the collapse of the USSR to the present day โ€“ there have been only three presidents: Boris Yeltsin, Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Medvedev, and again Vladimir Putin. If we look at who and for how long held the post of press secretary of the President of Russia, we will see that Dmitry Peskov sat in this post all.

The first press secretary of Russian President Boris Yeltsin was Pavel Voshchanov (only six months, from July 1991 to February 1992). Before the collapse of the Soviet Union, he worked as a leading researcher at the Institute of Economics and an economic columnist for the newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda. In 1990, he was appointed an expert on information issues under the Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR. After Boris Yeltsin was elected the first president of the Russian Federation, Voshchanov was invited to work in the president’s team and was soon appointed to the post of press secretary.

At the same time, Voshchanov headed the Russian News Agency. In February 1992, after returning from Paris, Voshchanov learned that by presidential decree he had been removed from the post of head of the Russian Information Agency, and in his place was appointed a man who had previously worked for 15 years as director of a glass container plant. Resentful and disillusioned, Voshchanov resigned and flew to Paris. “For a year and a half, I could not return to Russia, because there was a kind of bargaining – will I publish any memories? Then I have no place in Russia. If I don’t, I can come back. <โ€ฆ> I said I wouldn’t publish anything. And they gave the go-ahead: then you can go back,” Voshchanov recalled. When Voshchanov returned, he worked as a political columnist for Komsomolskaya Pravda and Novaya Daily Gazeta, later renamed Novaya Gazeta.

Voshchanov was replaced by Vyacheslav Kostikov, who worked as the president’s press secretary from 1992 to 1995. Kostikov graduated from moscow state university journalism, was fluent in English and French, worked in the information department of the UNESCO secretariat in Paris, was the editor and political observer of the APS. He resigned from the post of press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation after the scandal caused by the report that he was writing a documentary book about working with President Yeltsin. For about a year he represented the interests of Russia in the Vatican and at the Order of Malta, then, until 2002, he was deputy general director of the Media-Most holding for public relations, and now he works as the director of the strategic planning center “Arguments and Facts”.

The next press secretary of Boris Yeltsin was another graduate of the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University, Sergei Medvedev, the only reporter who in August 1991 was able to tell on the air about what was happening in the Russian capital. After that report, he was fired, but soon returned to work at Ostankino. At that time, he interviewed many politicians, including Yeltsin, and from March 15, 1995 to August 13, 1996, he worked as a press secretary and assistant to the President of the Russian Federation. After his retirement, he returned to television, where he eventually became the general director of the Ostankino television company (until December 2017). Since 2016, he has been conducting a documentary series “Mysteries of the Century” on the Zvezda TV channel.

President Yeltsin’s most famous press secretary is Sergei Yastrzhembsky, a position he held from August 1996 to September 1998. The promising diplomat Yastrzhembsky became Yeltsin’s press secretary on the recommendation of Anatoly Chubais. Yastrzhembsky agreed to this work on the condition that he and Yeltsin would work without intermediaries and only the president would be able to dictate to the press secretary what he should publicly voice. Yastrzhembsky was fired because of his opinion on the possible candidacy of the future prime minister, which Yeltsin’s son-in-law Valentin Yumashev regarded as lobbying the interests of Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov. After that, Yastrzhembsky headed the Moscow government for two years, and in January 2000 he joined the team of the new president Vladimir Putin and became his assistant. In 2008, Dmitry Medvedev replaced Putin, but Yastrzhembsky refused the offer to work in his team, resigned and took up creativity.

The fifth and last press secretary of Russian President Boris Yeltsin was international journalist Dmitry Yakushkin. After Yeltsin’s resignation, he stayed with him and continued to work as the press secretary of the ex-president. In January 2000, Yakushkin was also appointed Assistant to the Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation. Since 2006, he worked as a director of Highland Gold Mining. In November 2018, he said that he was engaged only in teaching work and was a professor at the Higher School of Economics.

If the first president of Russia for 9 years changed five press secretaries, then his successor prefers not to throw away press secretaries. In all the years that Vladimir Putin has been in power, and this is more than 22 years, he has had only two press secretaries. For the first two terms of his presidency (2000โ€“2008), his press secretary was Alexei Gromov.

According to the official version, Gromov graduated from the Moscow State University Faculty of History and immediately entered the service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR, then the Russian Federation. Since the Moscow State University did not train diplomatic workers, there is an assumption that Gromov was an employee of the KGB (FSB) under the guise of diplomatic status. In 1996, under the patronage of Sergei Yastrzhembsky, he became a press secretary, and 2 years later – the head of the press service of the presidential administration of the Russian Federation.

Gromov met Putin in the mid-1980s while working in Czechoslovakia. When Putin became acting president in the wake of President Yeltsin’s early resignation, he appointed Gromov as his press secretary. In March 2000, Vladimir Putin was elected president, and Alexei Gromov took the post of press secretary to the President of Russia. On March 26, 2004, after Putin’s reelection for a second term, Gromov was reconfirmed in his position.

From 2008 to 2012, when Dmitry Medvedev was president of Russia, Alexei Gromov worked as deputy head of the presidential administration. In 2012, Putin, who returned to the Kremlin, appointed him first deputy head of the presidential administration, responsible for the media sphere. Gromov has been described as the head of Russian state propaganda, who has controlled Russian media and especially television for more than 22 years.

Shoot Down Third UFO In Three Days By US Over Lake Huron, Officials Say

Officials have confirmed that a high-altitude object was shot down by the military over Lake Huron. This latest incident follows a series of similar events. The object was detected at an elevated height and was brought down by the military.

On Sunday afternoon, a high-altitude object over Lake Huron in Michigan was shot down by a U.S. military aircraft, according to three U.S. officials. This marks the latest in a series of similar incidents. The decision to shoot down the object was made by President Joe Biden out of caution, upon recommendation by military leaders. The object was first detected on radar over Montana on Saturday, and was observed again over Wisconsin and Michigan on Sunday. It had an octagonal structure, was unmanned, and was traveling at around 20,000 feet. While there is currently no evidence of its surveillance capabilities, the administration cannot rule it out.

According to an official, the object that was taken down was initially detected by radar over Montana on Saturday, and was later seen again on radar over Wisconsin and Michigan on Sunday. The object had an octagonal structure, was unmanned, and was traveling at a height of around 20,000 feet. Although there is no evidence to suggest surveillance capabilities, it cannot be ruled out by the administration.

In comparison to a suspected Chinese spy balloon that was seen in January, a senior U.S. official stated that this object, along with two others that have been shot down recently, is not comparable. The official clarified that there is no indication of the objects being spy balloons and that they resemble meteorological balloons or weather balloons. The official added that these types of vessels are known to go off course, are smaller, and did not have any payloads. However, the official acknowledged that each object is unique and difficult to identify with certainty.

During a Pentagon press briefing, Melissa Dalton, assistant secretary of defense for Homeland Defense and Hemispheric Affairs, stated that the recent increase in objects detected in US airspace at certain altitudes may be due to enhanced radar capabilities resulting from the recent takedown of a balloon from the People’s Republic of China. The objects detected do not pose a kinetic military threat, but their flight paths and altitudes could be hazardous to civilian aviation. The object of concern was taken down by an F-16 using a sidewinder missile, and its location was chosen to avoid impact to people on the ground. Congressman Elissa Slotkin has called for a full briefing on the wreckage of the object.

Over the past few days, the military has shot down a high-altitude object over US or Canadian territory on four occasions. The first incident involved a suspected Chinese surveillance balloon that was tracked across the continental US and shot down off the coast of South Carolina by a US F-22 fighter jet on Feb. 4. This incident caused bipartisan concern in Washington after the balloon passed over sensitive military installations, including at least one housing intercontinental ballistic missiles. The military delayed shooting it over concerns that downing it could risk injuring people on the ground with debris, but this delay drew criticism from some politicians who felt that the situation was not handled promptly enough by President Joe Biden and the Pentagon.

Since the downing of the suspected Chinese surveillance balloon off the coast of South Carolina by a US F-22 fighter jet on Feb. 4, two additional objects have been shot down over Alaska and Canada by US F-22 jets. While the military has not confirmed the type of objects, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has stated that they were also balloons, though smaller than the first. Schumer linked these balloons to the Chinese, who claimed the first balloon was a civilian weather craft. The incidents have led to further bipartisan calls for information from the Pentagon regarding the origin and purpose of the objects, as diplomatic tensions between Washington and Beijing continue to escalate over the initial balloon incident.

According to a senior US official, the increase in sightings of objects in American airspace is due to the military’s enhanced surveillance capabilities and not a sudden influx of new foreign objects. The official explained that Northern Command has adjusted its radar parameters to improve its detection abilities, which resulted in the military seeing more objects than before. The suspected Chinese spy balloon caused the US military to be more vigilant, although the official said the military was not entirely unaware of the situation before. The senior official added that the military is now picking up and further investigating objects that the system is detecting in the wake of the Chinese vessel incident.

Elon Muskโ€™s Reaction After the US Military Shot Down 3rd Unidentified Object

0

After the US military shot down a third unidentified aerial object, billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk shared his reaction. It is not clear from the statement whether he was responding to this specific incident or the series of recent reports of mysterious objects being shot down. Musk did not provide any specific details about his thoughts or concerns, leaving his reaction open to interpretation. This news comes amid growing anxiety about national security and the potential implications of these unidentified objects.

The CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk, recently took to Twitter to address the recent news of the United States military shooting down several unidentified objects. In his tweet, which was sent to his 128 million followers, Musk attempted to calm any concerns by making a lighthearted remark. He stated that people shouldn’t worry, as it was just some of his “alien friends” stopping by. To emphasize the humor in his comment, he included an alien and UFO emoji.

Elon Musk’s tweet was likely intended to be a humorous response to the news of the US military shooting down unidentified objects. His comment about “alien friends” was likely a reference to the idea of extraterrestrial life, which has been a popular topic in science fiction and popular culture for decades.

The US Air Force and National Guard pilots shot down an unidentified flying object over Lake Huron, Michigan, which has led to concerns about North American security and strained relations with China. Earlier, in January, a large Chinese balloon that was claimed to be conducting weather research was shot down by an F-22 jet off the South Carolina coast. On Friday, US fighter jets took down another object within US airspace over US territorial water, and on Saturday, a “high-altitude airborne object” was shot down over Canada’s central Yukon Territory, posing a threat to civilian flights. The Canadian Defense Minister did not speculate on the origin of the object, described as cylindrical and smaller than the initial balloon.

On Sunday, US President Joe Biden reportedly ordered warplanes to shoot down an unidentified object over Lake Huron as a precautionary measure. According to a senior administration official, this action was taken “out of an abundance of caution” to ensure the safety and security of the United States. The official did not provide further details on the nature of the object or its origin, and it is not clear whether the object posed an actual threat or was simply deemed suspicious. This incident comes amid growing concerns about national security and potential threats to US airspace, including from foreign powers such as China.

Rihanna’s high-profile return and Kansas City’s victory: how the Super Bowl was held in the USA

The National Football League (NFL) concluded its 57th championship game in the United States with the Kansas City Chiefs defeating the Philadelphia Eagles by a score of 38-35. The Super Bowl is the most highly anticipated sporting event in the United States, drawing in over 100 million viewers annually. The game was held in a stadium with a capacity of 73,000 people, and the average cost of tickets for this year’s event was reported to have reached a staggering $10,000.

The Super Bowl is a culmination of the NFL season and marks the final game where the winning team is awarded the Vince Lombardi Trophy, named after the legendary Green Bay Packers coach who led his team to five NFL championships. It is a significant event not only for sports enthusiasts but also for those who are interested in the halftime show, which usually features popular musicians and artists.

The game is known for its glitz and glamor, with celebrities and high-profile individuals flocking to the stadium to witness the event live. It is also a time when companies air their most creative and expensive commercials, with many of them producing memorable ads that go viral on social media.

This year’s Super Bowl game was played in a stadium that had a seating capacity of 73,000, but due to COVID-19 safety measures, the number of attendees was limited. This resulted in the average cost of tickets for the game skyrocketing to $10,000, making it one of the most expensive tickets for a sporting event in history. The high price of tickets did not deter avid fans from purchasing them, as many were eager to witness the highly anticipated match between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.

During the break, a musical show with the participation of world stars is traditionally held. This year, the headliner was the singer Rihanna. Unlike the artists who took to the Super Bowl stage in years past, she performed alone. The singer has not sung on stage for five years – since the Grammy Award in 2018. She also hasn’t released any new albums in a long time.

During Rihanna’s Halftime Show performance, it was evident that the singer was carrying her second child. The star opted for a Loewe jumpsuit and an Alaia jacket, both of which snugly hugged her figure around the abdomen. Following the performance, Rihanna’s spokesperson confirmed to the media that she is indeed pregnant with her second child. It’s worth noting that the singer had given birth to her first child only in May 2022.

Among the guests of the Super Bowl at the stadium were singer Adele, rapper Jay-Z, performer Billie Eilish, actor Bradley Cooper, who diligently ate chips during the game, and model Cara Delevingne.

3 ways to deal with the problem of not having enough imported products in Russia

0

Stanislav Naumov, a member of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, has suggested three ways to address the shortage of imported goods in Russia. During an interview on the radio station “Moscow Speaks,” Naumov mentioned that one of the ways to combat the shortage of goods is by developing parallel imports. This means importing goods from other countries that are not officially distributed by the manufacturer in Russia. However, the other two ways Naumov mentioned were not specified in the article.

According to Stanislav Naumov, who is the deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, there are three ways to address the shortage of imported goods in Russia. The first method is parallel imports, where the government has given powers to deal with the shortage, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade is working actively. The second method is technical intelligence, which involves reverse engineering to reproduce a technology. Lastly, the third method is education and research, which is considered the most significant.

The politician emphasized the importance of investing in education and gave the example of the USSR. He said that during that time, people didn’t want to create their own products, which led to a reliance on imported goods. Naumov thinks that some areas should have their own technology while others need to work together with other countries. He called this economic integration.

According to Naumov, now in the world there is no such product that is produced only in one country, since components and raw materials from it can be supplied from other points. He called Russian goods competitive in a number of sectors, stressing that this needs to be realized.

Earlier, the head of the Federal Customs Service of Russia, Vladimir Bulavin, said that since the permission of parallel imports under the mechanism, 2.4 million tons of goods worth over $ 20 billion have been imported into Russia. They include, first of all, cars, machine tools, equipment and technological lines, he said.

Alexandra Garmazhapova, a Human Rights Activist, Has Been Added to Russia’s Federal Wanted List

Donโ€™t Know Who Is Alexandra Garmazhapova Read This First

Alexandra Garmazhapova is being actively sought by Russian authorities and is at risk of arrest. As a human rights activist, Garmazhapova has likely been targeted by the Russian government due to her work advocating for the rights of marginalized groups or criticizing the government’s human rights record. The fact that she has been added to the federal wanted list suggests that the Russian authorities consider her a threat or a criminal, which could put her safety and freedom in danger.

Now Comes To The News

Alexandra Garmazhapova, a Russian human rights activist and founder of the Free Buryatia Foundation, has been added to Russia’s federal wanted list, according to her own statement to Mediazona. While the specific charges are unknown, official documents suggest that Garmazhapova is wanted for criminal activity. The activist suspects that she may have been charged with “discrediting” the Russian army.

Garmazhapova established the Free Buryatia Foundation in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The foundation provides assistance to soldiers from the Siberian Republic of Buryatia who wish to leave the Russian defense ministry. In the summer of 2022, the Free Buryatia Foundation announced that 150 Buryat service members who had refused to fight in Ukraine would be returning home. However, Garmazhapova was declared a “foreign agent” in November 2022 and currently resides outside of Russia.

Russia is reportedly blocking the sale of Chinese-made OnePlus smartphones in the country. The reason for the block is currently unknown

0

According to reports, Chinese-made OnePlus smartphones are being blocked in Russia. In addition to this, Mobiltelefon editor-in-chief, Evgeny Makarov, revealed that Chinese OnePlus 11 smartphones purchased outside of China are also being blocked, losing the ability to make calls.

Makarov went on to state that Oppo, the parent company of OnePlus, has made a decision to completely kill off the OnePlus brand. This action is believed to be the reason behind the block. It remains unclear why Oppo has decided to take this course of action.

OnePlus has since contacted Oppo’s Russian representation to address the situation. However, they were told that OnePlus is not officially represented in the Russian market and therefore, they recommended that Makarov contact the place of purchase, which is in China.

The OnePlus brand has been known for its high-quality smartphones, which offer a range of features, including high-end camera systems, fast charging, and top-of-the-line hardware. The company has also made a name for itself by providing customers with quality smartphones at an affordable price. The sudden block of the brand’s smartphones in Russia is concerning for its users and may result in a loss of consumer trust.

This incident highlights the importance of ensuring that devices purchased outside of one’s home country are compatible and authorized for use in the intended location. Additionally, it also raises questions regarding the responsibility of smartphone manufacturers to ensure that their devices are not blocked in other countries without legitimate reasons.

It was soon discovered that the regional lock is activated only when using SIM cards from India, Italy, Russia, or Brazil in Chinese OnePlus models. According to experts, the problem may not only affect OnePlus smartphones, but also Oppo and Realme, which are part of the BBK holding company. However, this information has not yet been confirmed by Russian representatives.

It is believed that the solution may be to reflash devices from Chinese firmware to global firmware. For example, OnePlus smartphones for the Chinese market are supplied with ColorOS firmware, while models for the international market run on OxygenOS. This would allow the affected devices to be used with a wider range of SIM cards, including those from the countries currently experiencing the regional lock.

Bitcoin Mining Update: Crypto miners benefit so much from the BTC rate

Mark Mobius Predicts Bitcoin to Drop to $10,000 in 2023

The Bitcoin price has risen enormously in the last few weeks. The crypto mining industry also benefits from this.

The mining industry is in crisis . The last period has been characterized by financial difficulties, rising electricity costs and bankruptcy . The new year is therefore balm for the battered industry. Bitcoin climbed more than 40 percent up the price ladder over the past month, its best January performance in 10 years . For Bitcoin miners, this means relief โ€“ which is noticeable.

Bitcoin Mining: Revenue is increasing again

The entire crypto mining industry has been able to increase its profits to a maximum of 25 million US dollars in the past few weeks. At the same time, the hash rate is currently at an all-time high of 300 exahashes per second (EH/s) .

The increased income of Bitcoin miners and the parallel positive Bitcoin trend should provide temporary relief. However, one can only speculate about the long-term development. In addition, only income has increased โ€“ but the level of costs plays an equally important role in the equation.

All-time high: Bitcoin miner finds 740 Bitcoin

The best example: Riot Platforms. Last month, the bitcoin mining company found 740 BTC. An all-time high. The miner explains this in a corresponding press release . It’s an increase of about 62 percent compared to 458 BTC the Texas-based company was able to mine in January 2022. In relation to the previous month, the number of mined BTC increased by almost 15 percent.

Jason Les, CEO of Riot, is pleased with this result. Nevertheless, there is reason for concern: In December, the Bitcoin miner temporarily ceased operations. The reason was the extreme weather conditions in the USA , which put a strain on the power supply. However, Les is confident:

Some sections of pipeline were damaged during the severe Texas winter storms, impacting approximately 2.5 EH/s of our hashrate capacity. Repairs were made to both buildings and we successfully brought Building F back online, which is 0.6 EH/s of the affected hashrate capacity.

Jason Les, CEO of Riot

In January, the company sold 700 BTC and realized net proceeds of about $13.7 million, according to the release. There was also a profit on the stock market: The stock (NASDAQ: RIOT) climbed almost 40 percent in the last month.

Face recognition system will be installed for almost a billion rubles on the border of Russia

Face Recognition System on the Border of Russia

The Russian authorities plan to install a face recognition system at nine border points by the end of 2023, Polygon Media reports.

Rosgranstroy posted the corresponding tender for 830 million rubles on theย public procurement website.

“Video analytics systems,” the procurement materials said, should “automatically analyze facial images” to identify drivers and compare their faces with all the data that is in the “biometric database or in a specific list.” The materials do not specify what kind of base and list it is.

The Russian authorities plan to install such systems at checkpoints:

  • on the border with China (Zabaikalsk, Pogranichny and Kraskino);
  • on the border with Poland (Bagrationovsk, Mamonovo);
  • on the border with Lithuania (Chernyshevskoye);
  • on the border with Kazakhstan (Mashtakovo, Orsk, Sagarchin).

A division of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation asks to install the equipment by November 25, 2023.

How to make the best videos for Facebook

If you have never made videos for Facebook, you may think it is hard, but it can be easy if you understand how Facebook works. Fortunately, the platform has been tailored to help you create customized videos to boost your business. The following tips will help you:

  • Your video should begin with something that will grab attention.

You are not the only one on Facebook trying to get your target marketโ€™s attention; your competitors are also making videos. So, your videosโ€™ first four to six seconds must be captivating enough to make people stop scrolling and watch.

Many good videos donโ€™t get their deserved attention because viewers stop watching after the first few seconds. To avoid this, use comedy, an unexpected scenario, or address a trending issue in the first few seconds of your Facebook video.

Facebook is beneficial to business owners that use their platform to share videos. So they have many tools you can use to make the most lucrative videos for your brand.

It is advisable to use Facebook templates because you can always go right when you are being guided by the owners of the platform you want to use. Templates also save you time and energy when making Facebook videos.

  • Format your videos properly for mobile devices.

Facebook is a social networking and instant messaging platform. So, a high percentage of users access the app with their smartphones. And this makes it very important for you to understand Facebook ad sizes and create mobile-friendly videos.

When making your videos, Facebook recommends using square or vertical aspect ratios so theyโ€™ll be accessible to users of different types of devices.

Benefits of using videos for Facebook marketing

There are so many advantages that come with using Facebook video ads for your business, some of which are listed below:

  • Facebook users love watching videos.

In one day, over 140 million people watch videos on Facebook; this is a very high number, and it clearly shows that Facebook is one of the best places to upload videos for business purposes.

  • They have high conversion rates.

Facebook videos are known to have high click-through rates, so you can get more followers and record more sales when you make great Facebook videos by following the tips stated above.

  • They are perfect for retargeting.

Some people may have come across your Facebook business page or expressed interest in one way or another in what you do but have yet to actually visit your website or make a purchase. With Facebookโ€™s retargeting feature, you can show your videos to such people and reignite their enthusiasm for your product or service.

  • They are budget-friendly.

On Facebook, you can upload videos that millions of people could see for a relatively affordable fee. So, instead of investing a huge amount of money in TV ads and other forms of traditional marketing, you can reach more people, get better results, and still stay within a friendly budgetโ€“all on one platform.

The cost of Facebook video advertising

As already stated, promoting your business videos on Facebook is affordable. The main determining factor is the budget you have set aside for it and the kind of actions you prefer.

After you plan your budget, you can set it up in your Facebook ad manager, and you will not spend beyond that limit. Typically, you are expected to pay about $12 per 1,000 impressions until you reach the spending limit you have set.

Conclusion

Facebook is designed to help you succeed, and marketing videos are already proven to get more engagement and sales. So, you need to use all the available resources to your advantage by working with a good team and taking all the necessary steps to make great videos for Facebook.
