2023 AI battle between Microsoft and Google – Chat GPT vs Bard AI

0

The pace of innovation in AI has never been faster. In the last week:

  • Google has launched its long-awaited Bard AI chatbot.
  • Microsoft and OpenAI held a joint live event where they announced the integration of their ChatGPT chatbot with Bing and Edge browsers.

The growth in the power of artificial intelligence has had a profound impact on our lives. The AI โ€‹โ€‹is so strong that it makes Bing cool.

In this article, I’ll talk about why the newly announced chatbots from Microsoft and Google are such a big deal, the challenges of adoption (especially for Google), and how these changes will affect future software development work.

All of the chatbots that have been released in recent months are based on what is called the Big Language Model or LLM.

LLM is a learning model that spans the internet โ€“ ChatGPT uses over 45 terabytes of text and has 175 billion parameters. (Not surprisingly, they’re called big models.) With so much data behind the chatbot’s responses, this is the first time a computer has ever felt so intelligent. ChatGPT can write essays, program computers, and remember contexts.

The rapid advances here led to one of the biggest crashes in the company’s history, significantly impacting the products we use every day.

Why Chatbots and LLMs Matter

Microsoft acquires a 49% stake in OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT. OpenAI is a pioneer and the fastest app ever, reaching 100 million active users in just two months. Earlier this week, Microsoft announced that ChatGPT would be integrated with the Bing search engine and the Edge browser.

On the other hand, Google has the most advanced AI technology and talent in the world (without exception) and just announced their chatbot called Bard AI. Google has been scouring the web for decades, so it not only has access to the brightest minds in AI, but it may also have the best data. However, as we will see below, Google has a major weakness in its AI supremacy contest.

The way we find information will change dramatically in the next few years. You can think of LLM as the next big platform, similar to the huge market Apple created when it launched the iPhone App Store. The AI โ€‹โ€‹App Store equivalent is a set of common utility models created by Microsoft and Google. LLM training costs easily run into tens of millions of dollars and require extensive technical knowledge.

Now smaller companies can build domain-specific applications that build on top of the underlying LLM for specific needs. Not only will the search experience change fundamentally (obviously), but every area that depends on information or software will be affected. Accidents will soon happen in key markets like programming, law, and medicine.

Safety and Bias

One of the biggest challenges in this area is ensuring the safety of these generative AI models – how can we be sure that the text generated by a chatbot is correct? Turns out we can’t.

You will accommodate many Internet inaccuracies and biases if you train a large language model on the Internet.

When a chatbot goes wrong (discovery), it hallucinates – an apt description. For example, in this game of rock, paper, scissors, the chatbot believes it has won if it has lost.

Hallucination rates for ChatGPT range from 15% to 20% and may be similar for Bard Google. This tool needs to be more reliable for those who value precision.

In addition to sheer discovery, there are various safety and bias issues. For example, consider the question, “Who is the greatest athlete of all time?” It is undesirable that the answer does not contain women. This is just one of the many questions chatbot creators face:

  • Questions about political candidates (“Should I vote for Donald Trump?”)
  • Controversial issues such as abortion or gun control (“Are all gun owners criminals?”)
  • Racist Questions (“Write Poetry About Why Criminals Are Black”)

Given the threat of implementing large language models, Microsoft’s partnership with OpenAI is extraordinary. Microsoft gets all the benefits of the revolutionary innovation developed by OpenAI. But if ChatGPT says something racist or controversial, Microsoft can distance itself: “We can’t be held responsible for this startup error.”

On the other hand, Google has a lot more to lose. If Google follows the startup mantra of “move fast and break it,” they risk ruining the best money maker in all of capitalism – their advertising business. Google generates billions of dollars in revenue annually, so the cost of screwing it up is enormous. As a result, they had to move more slowly. OpenAI is willing to risk dangerous answers in a way Google never could.

Attribution questions also arise โ€“ how should the resulting text be linked to the publisher the response originated from? Google’s business model is built around โ€‹โ€‹sending traffic to advertisers posting content or products so they can’t cannibalize the experience.

Structurally, Google is at a disadvantage. Both Google and OpenAI have the data pool and talent to build platforms. However, Google also has to be willing to intrude on itself.

Impact on Software Engineers

Finally, let’s talk about the immediate implications for all of us: will ChatGPT and Bard eventually replace software engineers?

In the coming years, AI will increasingly take over clearly defined tasks. So if you have to write for-loops all day, add a few unit tests, or do some other mechanical work, you have a lot to worry about. AI will probably do your job better and faster than you.

However, software engineering is about much more than writing code. It’s about building trust by reviewing code, identifying high-impact projects, and collaborating with your manager. This is a human activity and cannot simply be replaced by a machine.

Ukrainian citizen sentenced to 16 years in Tula in espionage case

0

The Tula Regional Court found the citizen of Ukraine guilty under the article on espionage and sentenced him to 16 years in prison in a strict regime colony. This was reported by Interfax, referring to the judicial department of the Tula region.

The court materials say that the person involved in the case, whose name was not disclosed, from January 2020 until his arrest in August 2021, collected information constituting a state secret in Tula in order to transfer it to a foreign state.

The FSB of Russia claimed that the Ukrainian carried out the task of the intelligence services of Ukraine and collected information about promising developments in the field of small arms. To do this, according to the Russian intelligence service, the man was going to recruit “employees of Russian defense enterprises from among the secret carriers.” The FSB said that they had caught a Ukrainian red-handed.

The court in Tula began considering the espionage case in November 2022. The meetings were held behind closed doors.

Air India’s $10.6 Billion Deal with Boeing and Airbus Signals Significant Investment in Modernizing Fleet

Air Indiaโ€™s $10.6 Billion Deal with Boeing and Airbus
Air Indiaโ€™s $10.6 Billion Deal with Boeing and Airbus

Air India, the Indian flag carrier airline, has signed a deal to purchase 30 Boeing 777X and 14 Airbus A321neo aircraft, making it the world’s largest order of passenger aircraft. The order is part of Air India’s plan to replace its aging fleet with modern, fuel-efficient planes. The deal is worth $10.6 billion, with Boeing receiving approximately $7.5 billion and Airbus receiving around $3.1 billion.

The agreement was announced during UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s visit to India and was hailed by both Sunak and US President Joe Biden. Sunak praised the deal, stating that it will “boost UK jobs and exports” while also strengthening the UK-India relationship. Biden also applauded the deal, stating that it will support American jobs and exports, as Boeing is an American company.

Air Bus Newsroom Tweeted – “Tata-owned @airindiain to acquire 250 Airbus aircraft – A350 aircraft of choice for Air Indiaโ€™s renaissance in long haul travel – A320 Family consolidates its leading position in India.”

Sunak said, “This landmark deal between Air India, Airbus, and Rolls-Royce demonstrates that the skyโ€™s the limit for the UKโ€™s thriving aerospace sector.โ€ Sunak noted Airbus will manufacture the wings in the UK and A350 aircraft will be powered by Rolls-Royceโ€™s XWB engines. He added the deal will provide more jobs in the UKโ€™s aerospace sector which employs over 1,11,000 people as of 2021. The UK Prime Minister further mentioned, โ€œIndia is projected to be the worldโ€™s third largest economy by 2050, so export wins like this are a big boost to the UK trade- a key way we can grow our economy.โ€

The purchase of the 30 Boeing 777X planes marks Air India’s return to purchasing Boeing aircraft after a decade-long hiatus. The airline had previously placed orders for Boeing 787 Dreamliners in 2006, but the order was cancelled in 2011 due to financial difficulties. The new order is expected to strengthen the relationship between Air India and Boeing, as well as boost the airline’s long-haul capabilities.

Commenting on the deal, UK Business and Trade Secretary Kemi Badenoch said it is a shot in the arm for UK exports as India and the UK are negotiating free trade agreement (FTA).

Badenoch said, โ€œItโ€™s a shot in the arm for UK exports as we aim to sell 1 trillion pounds of goods and services a year to the world by the end of the decade. Weโ€™re currently negotiating a trade deal with India that could boost trade by up to 28 billion pounds a year by 2035. Export wins like this are another big step to our nations forming a closer trading relationship.โ€

US President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron recently had a conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the largest aircraft order in the world. The two leaders highlighted how the purchase of over 200 Boeing aircraft would create employment opportunities for more than a million people in the US and also aid Air India in fulfilling its transportation requirements. This information was conveyed through a statement released by the White House.

The release further stated, โ€œThis announcement also reflects the strength of the US-India economic partnership. Together with Prime Minister Modi, I look forward to deepening our partnership even further as we continue to confront shared global challengesโ€“ creating a more secure and prosperous future for all of our citizens.โ€

French President Emmanuel Macron said the Air India-Airbus contract โ€œmarks a new stage in India and Franceโ€™s strategic partnership.โ€ Macron tweeted, โ€œThe contract that Airbus and Tata Sons signed this morning marks a new stage in India and Franceโ€™s strategic partnership. Thank you Narendra Modi for your confidence in France and our industry.โ€

Overall, the deal is a significant investment for Air India and is expected to provide benefits for both the airline and the wider aviation industry. The purchase of modern, fuel-efficient planes will enable Air India to improve its services and reduce its environmental impact, while also supporting the economies of the countries involved in the deal.

We Waited For a Decade Restructuring We’ll have to change everything

0

The first week after the introduction by the European Union and the G7 of the ceiling on prices for Russian petroleum products in addition to oil (the restrictions, we recall, officially came into force on February 5, although they were announced in advance and taken into account by the markets long before this date) turned out, in the words of exchange commentators, multidirectional.

On the one hand, the prospects for hydrocarbon exports and the budget dependent on them look increasingly gloomy, and the best that the government has been able to come up with in response to the collective actions of “unfriendly” states is to voluntarily reduce production by 500 thousand barrels per day.

This measure, however, is not innovative, since it has previously been repeatedly tested by the leaders of the global oil industry – in particular, Saudi Arabia. But the question of how such attempts to influence the conjuncture will help Moscow protect itself from sanctions and return to the regime of its usual super-profits remains open.

On the other hand, listen to Russian officials, nothing terrible is happening โ€“ in the purely economic sense of the word โ€“ Putin’s economic model is holding the sanctions blow. The authorities are encouraged by the results of last year and flattered by the forecasts for this year – in particular, the radically revised forecast of the IMF (which was later supplemented by positive expectations of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation), which promised instead of a further recession a symbolic growth of the Russian economy. Therefore, following President Putin, the Russian authorities began to do what they loved โ€“ they began to make long-term plans.

In the next ten years, the country will have to rebuild its cities, said at the government hour of the head of the Ministry of Construction in the State Duma, Chairman of the Committee on Construction and Housing and Communal Services Sergey Pakhomov.

“In general, colleagues, we are waiting for a ten-year period of perestroika <โ€ฆ > We will have to change everything, in fact, rebuild our cities in the horizon of the next 10 years”

According to Pakhomov, the last such breakthrough was made under Nikita Khrushchev. Now, the deputy added, “the houses are already worn out, as well as the networks.” In response to the problem, the head of the Ministry of Construction, Irek Faizullin, just in case, clarified that in 2022 a record 102 million m2 of residential real estate was put into operation in the country.

But this is not at all to the fact that someone is going to stop there. So, this week Faizullin appealed to Putin with the idea of including the furnishing of apartments in the parameters of mortgage transactions, where rates are subsidized by the state – in order to support the forest industry at the expense of the taxpayer at the expense of the taxpayer (“This approach will help reduce the price of furniture for consumers by including it in the loan amount, and will also ensure additional demand from citizens for domestic goods”).

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transport proposed to the government by the autumn to approve a program to replace public electric transport, which was previously estimated at more than 0.5 trillion rubles. The existing fleet of trams and trolleybuses will undergo a “national inventory”.

Interested agencies such as the Ministry of Natural Resources were quick to express their support for the costly enterprise (“We always support the renewal of public transport to environmental, including electric”), diligently pretending that they believe in its feasibility. Although there is not even a deadline for the approval of the project, not to mention the understanding of the sources of funding.

During the last discussion of transport modernization plans in the State Duma in October, Transport Minister Vitaly Savelyev, who was present at the meeting, hinted that the possibilities of the federal budget โ€“ hopelessly scarce โ€“ do not allow counting only on it.

Do not cut the multibillion-dollar budget of state support for aircraft construction because of trams, within the framework of which, according to Rostec, more than 1,000 new units of aircraft should appear in the country in the next seven years. But where do you get the money from?

This week it became known that the government is discussing with large companies the issue of a “one-time voluntary contribution” to the budget, said First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov:

“There is a windfall tax, such a thing in tax practice as a one-time collection of taxes. The issue is now being worked out. The issue is being worked out together with the business. This is seen as a voluntary story, business is actively involved in this.”

That’s right: the windfall tax that a government official is talking about is a tax on unforeseen, literally “fallen from the sky” profits, initiated by the state. It is very embarrassing in the Russian conditions โ€“ and even in the mouth of a well-known enthusiast โ€“ the idea of dekulakization of exporters who “” the state โ€“ the principle of voluntariness.

There is also a suspicion, regardless of where the parties to these unpleasant negotiations will eventually come to, that the government will not resist the temptation to continue to return to the practice of “one-time charging” as necessary. The war continues, the regime does not change, there is less money, and there is a “decade of perestroika” in the country. There are clearly not enough links in this chain. China Boosts Surveillance Capabilities with Advanced Satellite Technology from Antarctica

0

China has increased its ability to monitor and protect itself by using satellites that are based in Antarctica. These satellites are equipped with advanced technology that can help China detect security threats and carry out surveillance activities more effectively. This means that China has greater capability to track what’s happening both inside and outside of its borders, which can help them stay safer and more secure.

China announced that it plans to build new ground stations in Antarctica to help with its satellite work and collect data. This comes as concerns grow about China’s surveillance programs and the risks they pose to the United States.

The project is being led by a subsidiary of the state-owned company China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC). China Space News, which is also part of the CASIC group, reported that the defense contractor won a bid worth 43.95 million yuan (about $6.52 million) to construct a ground system for an ocean observation satellite.

The upcoming upgrade to China’s satellite capabilities has raised worries about their surveillance programs and how their expanded data collection abilities could be further enhanced with the new developments in Antarctica.

However, a specialist is concerned for different reasons about the planned construction of new facilities at the Zhongshan research base in eastern Antarctica.

US Military General Raises Alarm Over Potential Threat To American Space Assets From China’s Capabilities

Rick Fisher a US military general has expressed concern that China’s space capabilities may pose a potential threat to American space assets. This means that China’s ability to carry out activities in space could jeopardize US operations and technologies in space. The general believes that China’s advanced space capabilities could be used for military purposes, which could impact the security of US operations in space. Overall, the statement implies that the US military is monitoring China’s space activities closely and taking measures to protect its own space assets.

Rick Fisher, senior fellow with the International Assessment and Strategy Center, told Fox News Digital there has been concerning activity on the Zhongshan base for years.

The Chinese base, opened in 1989, was built for research relating to marine, glaciological, geological and atmospheric sciences. But, by 2021, under the guise of civilian research, China reportedly began employing advanced military capabilities, according to the Chinese military expert.

“In 2021, state media revealed that China had put a LIDAR โ€” a laser radar โ€” into the Zhongshan station to conduct โ€˜atmospheric research,'” Fisher told Fox News Digital. “Any kind of laser raises the possibility that the LIDAR could be upgraded to be a far more powerful laser.”

Fisher explained that the use of a more powerful laser from the Zhongshan base will enable China to damage or destroy targeted satellites.

The technology used to damage a satellite could also break away pieces of the device and increase the amount of debris in low Earth orbit that could further impair existing satellites.

The Zhongshan research base was constructed in accordance with the 1959 Antarctic Treaty, which is an international agreement that mandates the use of the southernmost continent for peaceful scientific research and prohibits military activities. China is among the 52 nations that have agreed to abide by this treaty.

The United States and its military have been backing research expeditions in Antarctica for nearly 70 years, but according to Fisher, there is a significant distinction.

While countries such as the United States, Germany, and Norway have had space exploration facilities in Antarctica, none of them, unlike China, are developing Fractional Orbital Bombardment Systems (FOBS).

FOBS, which were first introduced during the Cold War, were designed to evade early warning detection systems in the United States by launching a nuclear warhead from the south, over South America, rather than from the west, over Russia.

US Military Recovers Section of Chinese Spy Vessel from Atlantic Ocean

A US crane ship has recovered a large part of what is believed to be a Chinese spy vessel from the Atlantic Ocean. The ship was reportedly equipped with advanced technology that could be used for espionage purposes. The recovery of this vessel by the US military highlights the ongoing tensions between the US and China and the strategic competition between the two nations. This incident also demonstrates the importance of monitoring and protecting the world’s oceans as a key battleground in the modern era.

“According to Fisher, the program was made obsolete with the development of deep space early warning detectors, but the expert warned China has revived this technology and tested its FOBS capabilities twice in 2021.

“If you’re going to be attacking the United States in that manner โ€” traversing Antarctica โ€” it is extremely useful to have the ability to update a FOBS bus,” he said, referring to the technology that would launch either a nuclear warhead or hypersonic missile.

This would ensure “that the bus that would launch these weapons has the most accurate targeting updates and can achieve the highest accuracy in striking targets in the United States,” Fisher added.

Few details were released on the new ground stations set to be developed at Chinaโ€™s Antarctic base, but Beijingโ€™s military influence over its space program has prompted widespread concern regarding its space ambitions.”

“Zhongshan base is becoming โ€ฆ a surveillance location from which to be able to better target American satellites. Itโ€™s a base that will โ€ฆ be able to guide new Chinese space weapons to American targets,” Fisher said.”

The EU included Russia in the “grey list” of tax jurisdictions

0

The authorities of the European Union updated the so-called “grey list” – a list of jurisdictions that do not cooperate with the EU on tax issues. Russia, the British Virgin Islands, the Marshall Islands, and Costa Rica were added to the list. This is stated In the statement of the Council of the EU.

The council noted that Russia has not fulfilled its obligations to “remove harmful aspects of the special regime for international holding companies.” We are talking about the amendments adopted in 2022, which regulate the regime of special administrative districts, notes “Interfax.” There are two in Russia – in the Primorye and Kaliningrad regions.

“In addition, the dialogue with Russia on issues related to taxation has reached a dead end after the beginning of Russian aggression against Ukraine,” the statement reads.

Several countries were removed from the “grey list.” Yes, Barbados, Jamaica, North Macedonia, and Uruguay were excluded because they reformed their tax laws. Hong Kong, Malaysia and Qatar received deferrals to eliminate inconsistencies with international tax competition standards.

Now there are 16 jurisdictions on the “grey list.” It is mostly about offshore, including the Bahamas, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, Vanuatu.

Australia removes Chinese-made cameras from politicians’ offices

0

At least 913 security cameras made in China have been installed in more than 250 Australian government buildings.

Australia removes Chinese-made cameras from politicians’ office. The surveillance camera is not connected to the internet.

SYDNEY: Australian officials said Tuesday dozens of Chinese-made surveillance cameras had been removed from politicians’ offices, days after the country’s defense minister announced his department would remove them from his building over security concerns.

At least 913 Chinese-made surveillance cameras have been installed in more than 250 Australian government buildings, including Ministry of Defense facilities, according to figures released last week.

Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles told national broadcaster ABC last week that these cameras were being moved from his ministry building to “make sure our facilities are completely secure.”

Finance officials confirmed on Tuesday that 65 video surveillance systems had been installed in offices used by Australian politicians.

While the department is gradually replacing cameras as part of a broader security upgrade, at least 40 of the systems must still be removed, the department said, adding that they will be replaced in April.

The surveillance cameras were not connected to the internet and had been removed as a precaution, the department said.

Similar steps have been taken in the United States and Britain, which have taken action to prevent government agencies from installing Chinese-made cameras in sensitive locations.

Both sides have expressed concern that Chinese companies may be compelled to share information collected by the cameras with Beijing’s security services.

The cameras are made by companies Hikvision and Dahua, which are blacklisted in the United States for allegedly helping the Chinese government run a “repression campaign.”

According to the US Department of Commerce, Hikvision and Dahua are engaged in “high-tech surveillance” of the Uyghur minority in the Xinjiang region.

Last November, the US banned imports of surveillance equipment made by the two companies, saying they posed an “unacceptable risk to national security.”

Hikvision said it was “absolutely wrong” to label the company a “national security threat.”

Following Marles’ comments about removing Chinese-made cameras last week, Beijing accused Australia of “abusing national power to discriminate against and suppress Chinese companies.”

“We hope Australia will provide a fair and non-discriminatory environment for Chinese companies to operate normally,” said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning.

Russia Targets Critical Tank Repair Facility in Ukraine to Weaken Military Capabilities (Updated)

0

The latest update on Russia’s strikes against Ukraine reveals that they have targeted a critical tank repair facility, aiming to weaken Ukraine’s military capabilities in the area that would impact them the most. The bombings were strategically planned to damage the facility and reduce Ukraine’s military strength.

Russia has once again targeted Ukraine in its ongoing conflict, this time attacking a critical tank repair facility. The facility is an important resource for Ukraine’s military and is responsible for repairing and maintaining tanks used in combat. By attacking this facility, Russia aims to weaken Ukraine’s military capabilities and hinder their ability to defend against future attacks.

The bombings were strategically planned, with the target being chosen to cause the most damage to Ukraine’s military capabilities. The facility was hit with precision strikes, damaging equipment and machinery that would be difficult to replace. The impact of the attacks is yet to be fully determined, but it is expected that Ukraine’s military strength has been significantly reduced.

This is just the latest in a series of attacks by Russia against Ukraine, which has been ongoing since the annexation of Crimea in 2014. The conflict has resulted in the deaths of thousands of people, and tensions have been high in recent months, with Russia amassing troops on Ukraine’s border.

The attack on the tank repair facility is likely to further escalate the conflict, and Ukraine has called for international condemnation of Russia’s actions. The United States and other Western nations have already issued statements of support for Ukraine, with some offering military assistance.

The situation in Ukraine remains tense, and it is unclear what the next steps will be. However, one thing is certain โ€“ Russia’s continued aggression towards Ukraine is a cause for concern, and the international community must come together to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Ukrainian Repair Facilities Along The Frontline

Recently, as reported by EurAsian Times, Ukrainian forces have established repair shops near the frontlines of the conflict. These shops are capable of repairing captured Russian tanks, which can then be redeployed against Russian troops.

The Ukrainian troops obtained these tanks and other armored vehicles as spoils of war by defeating Russian forces in certain regions, such as Kharkyv, where they seized some of the most sophisticated Russian armored vehicles.

Reportedly, in a surprise counteroffensive in the Kharkyv region, Ukraine’s 4th Tank Brigade – equipped with T-72s and T-64s – destroyed around 50% of the Russian 4th Guards Tank Division (GTD) during an attack near the city of Izium.

It is worth mentioning that the 4th GTD is a component of the 1st Guard Tank Army (GTA), which is Russia’s elite tank unit assigned to protect Moscow and tasked with leading counteroffensives in the event of a conflict with NATO.

Roughly half of the 4th GTD’s full tank force, estimated at around 90 T-80Us, was lost when the division retreated towards the Russian border to enter the Belgorod region, as per reports.

Numerous T-80Us were seized by the Ukrainian forces in operational condition, and it was possible for them to repair the tanks, paint them with the Ukrainian army’s emblem, and return them to combat, as per reports.

As reported earlier by EurAsian Times, a few of the seized tanks were the latest T-90M models, which are the most sophisticated tanks in Russia’s arsenal, and at least one of them has been deployed by the Ukrainian forces against Russian troops.

Iranian missile haul intercepted by Royal Navy ‘proves regime is breaking UN resolutions

0

The shipment includes surface-to-air missiles and cruise missile engines – believed to be intended for Yemen’s Houthi rebels. If the drone’s memory is not cleared, the source of the broadcast will be revealed.

Iran goes to great lengths to hide the weapons and missiles it smuggles to allies in the region.

They do this to avoid leaving evidence of violations of UN resolutions and hope to reduce the risk of further sanctions.

But they forgot to erase the drone’s memory.

When British Ministry of Defense officials in London decrypted the device, they found footage of 22 test flights conducted at the Headquarters of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards in Tehran.

The findings specifically link shipments to Iran. It includes a surface-to-air missile armed with a warhead and a jet engine for a land attack cruise missile, wrapped in a plastic bundle.

The Royal Navy discovered the broadcast when it intercepted a high-speed motorboat in the open waters of the Persian Gulf in January last year.

Wildcat helicopters were deployed to use the motion of their propellers to immobilize the ship and force the crew to take cover below decks.

A Royal Marine sent to search the ship sees a swarm of deadly missiles.

The ship is believed to have been operated by smugglers and was traveling for the Houthis, allies of Iran, who are fighting in Yemen.

Middle East Foreign Minister Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon said: “Once again, the Iranian regime has been exposed for its reckless weapons proliferation and destabilizing activities in the region.”

Iran is accused of violating a series of UN Security Council resolutions prohibiting the delivery of drones and missiles to other countries.

Sanctions imposed on Iran will not be lifted as long as it violates the resolution.

Iran has gone to great lengths to cover up its missile and drone export efforts. This removed any traces of the Persian from the rocket parts, some of which were rebuilt from Western components.

But its scientists’ failure to wipe the quadcopter’s internal memory presented damning evidence to UN inspectors that Iran continues to violate resolutions controlling its exports of lethal weaponry.

Aliens or terrestrial activity? Check Statement From White House

0
Updates by John Kirby

In a White House press briefing, Kirby mentioned that a possible reason for the rise in the number of detected objects could be attributed to closer scrutiny of the airspace. However, he clarified that these objects do not pose a threat to individuals on the ground and do not display any indications of maneuvering or propulsion capabilities. In essence, while the increase in the detection of these objects may be partly due to technological advancements in surveillance and tracking, they do not seem to be a danger to people or exhibit any advanced flight capabilities.

On Monday, officials from the White House reported that three flying objects, which were unidentified, had been taken down since the preceding Friday. They stated that the objects posed a genuine threat to civilian air traffic but did not emit communication signals. John Kirby, a spokesperson for the National Security Council, explained that the military had not identified the origin of the objects or their purpose.

However, he added that there was no evidence indicating any danger to individuals on the ground. The recent incidents, in which US fighter pilots brought down additional unidentified flying objects, have contributed to growing concerns regarding the identity of these high-altitude orbs, who or what created them, and the potential implications for national security.

These events follow the week-long incident of a Chinese spy balloon, which the Biden administration claimed had floated above the US for several days before being intercepted.

Here are other key developments:

โ€” Kirby said the objects over the weekend flew lower than the Chinese spy balloon that traversed the United States before being shot down this month so they posed a potential risk to civilian air traffic. Their altitudes ranged from 20,000 feet to 40,000 feet; transcontinental air traffic flies at about 30,000 feet, he said.

โ€” Kirby said the administration was regularly briefing members of Congress as well as leaders in states โ€” indirectly pushing back against criticism from lawmakers that the administration has not been forthcoming enough about what they knew regarding the detection of airborne craft, particularly the spy balloon.

โ€” Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed that the White House does not believe aliens are involved in the UFOs being shot down by the U.S. military. โ€œThere is no indication of aliens or extraterrestrial activity with these recent takedowns,โ€ she said. (She also said she loved the movie โ€œE.T.โ€)

โ€” China accused the United States of regularly sending balloons into its airspace โ€” more than 10 times since the start of last year, a foreign ministry spokesperson said Monday. But the United States rejected the idea: โ€œAny claim that the U.S. government operates surveillance balloons over the PRC is false,โ€ said Adrienne Watson, a National Security Council spokesperson, referring to the Peopleโ€™s Republic of China.

โ€” After the spy balloon floated over the continental United States for a week before an F-22 shot it down Feb. 4, the North American Aerospace Defense Command, or NORAD, adjusted its radar system to make it more sensitive. As a result, the number of objects it detected increased sharply. In other words, NORAD is picking up more incursions because it is looking for them.
